Vikingting Bjørnevåk 2023 - NO

Welcome to Bjørnevåk - Iron Age thing at Tingvatn ancient monument park.

Tingvatn ancient monument park in Hægebostad is open to the public 26 - 28 May 2023.

We welcome everyone to this weekend where you can learn about the Iron Age society in Agder.

The Migration Period is a very important and rich period in Agder's history that is becoming more and more well known. Of course, we are not forgetting the Viking Age, but we want to show how much more we have. Join us in a story where history plays the main role.

We wake up from our winter hibernation, highlighting what we care so much about: History, crafts and of course, food!

Bjørnevåk 2023 will be open to the public as follows:

Friday 26 May

18:00 - 20:30: Lecture evening in collaboration with Kulturarv i Agder

Saturday 27 May

11:00 - 16:00: Activities at the ancient monument field and the museum.

12:00: A world novelty from Snartemo is launched: Maikki Karisto and Randi Stoltz have researched the piece of woven ribbon found in the Snartemo II grave. In collaboration with the Vest-Agder Museum, they are launching a recipe booklet about this exciting find and the technique used to piece-weave the animal in the ribbon from the Snartemo II grave.

Sunday 28 May

11:00 - 15:00: Activities at the archaeological site and museum
There will be exciting activities for the whole family on Saturday and Sunday:
- Guided tours about Agder in the Migration Period
- The village museum and handicrafts are open
- Activities for children
- Food will be served in the area.

PS: The event was previously known as Vikingting, but as the Iron Age is so much more than the Viking Age, we want to mark this with a name change.
